About the author (1988)

Arnold Greenberg was born in The Bronx, New York during the depression. He graduated from CCNY and NYU Law School before embarking upon a lengthy career as a lawyer with the firm Greenberg and Tuchman. In 1965, he and his wife Harriet wrote the first Arthur Frommer travel guide to South America entitled South America on $5 a Day. They went on to write numerous Frommer guides and founded their own Alive series of travel guides to various South American destinations. In the 1980's, they bought the The Complete Traveller, the nation's first travel bookstore, which they owned and operated until 2015. He died on January 22, 2016 at the age of 83.
