I read this book in the early 80s at the end of my residencies in general surgery, trauma surgery, and reconstructive plastic surgery.
It helped me weed out and understand patients that needed counseling instead of surgery, why different patients need different post operative instruction and TLC, how to determine if patients have realistic expectations, which patients will thrive with surgery, and which patients will never be happy.
Though a few bad candidates have fooled me and gotten through, I have survived 34 years in reconstructive plastic surgery practice without a single lawsuit. I attribute that in part to the information in this book.
It would be prudent for everyone practicing plastic surgery to read this book. Thank you John Goin and Marcia Goin
