CAPTAIN'S LOG, 6454.4 Due to a series of freak ion storms, the Neutral Zone separating the Federation from the Romulan Empire will soon shift--and the planet Arachnae will fall entirely within Romulan space. Our mission: seek out intelligent life there and, if it exists, offer full Federation protection. To help us complete the necessary surveys, Dr. Katalya Tremain was assigned to the U.S.S. EnterpriseTM. She is the Federation's foremost expert on the exobiology of this region--and, as I have just discovered, has a fanatical hatred of any and all things Vulcan... including my first officer. I have logged an official protest with Starfleet Command. Her behavior towards Mr. Spock is not only a disgrace to both her uniform and the Federation but also threatens the success of our mission...a threat we cannot afford when the fate of an entire civilization may rest upon our actions in the coming hours.

If you sort of like Star Trek, but really like romance novels, this book is for you. The book describes the adventures of Dr. Katalya Tremain, the Federation's leading exobiologist, who is also, younger than she looks, pretty without being beautiful, buxom and a guitar player. Spock and McCoy stumble over each other preparing for her visit, but the crew's lives are disrupted when they learn of her vitriolic hatred of all Vulcans! Can Spock possibly break through the walls of her tragic past to make her love him?
This books scores extremely high on the Mary Sue scale. I read it all the way through to see if there was going to be some kind of punchline at the end, but no.
Don't let David Gerrold's personal and intimate introduction fool you - or rather, let it be a warning. This is bad fan fiction at its worst.
Review: Vulcan! (Star Trek Adventures #7)User Review - Filip Kernc - Goodreads
"...I am sure he respected your silence. It was a great gift you gave him. By not telling him of your love, you allowed him to be what he was- Vulcan. I honor you for that in his name." Read full review
