About the author (2003)

Professor Gisela Kaplan is a researcher at the University of New England, Armidale, New South Wales, and lectures in Biological Sciences and Education. She has written over ten books and rehabilitates native Australian birds, especially birds of prey. Her current research includes the vocal behaviour of the Australian magpie. She is also active in the protection of native wildlife and in animal welfare.
