Part of a series of reference works for Haydn scholars, musicologists and enthusiasts, this work is devoted to Haydn operas. It includes the first two in a series of complete facsimiles of the original printed libretti for works performed at Eszterhaza: La Canterina (1767), and a copy of Le Pescatrici (1770), reproduced here for the first time. Articles include an analysis of La Canterina in the Joseph Haydn Werke edition, and an account of the first performance of Le Pescatrici as part of the festivities organized by Prince Nicolaus Esterhazy to celebrate the marriage of his niece, Countess Lamberg, to Count Pocci.
