Quite poor, for a person who claims to be highly in-the-know which regards Jazz and its associated genres, Mark C. Gridley's information does not appear to be that accurate, nor is his linguistic skill high up on the literary charts.
I'll give an example of some the inaccuracies in his book;
He writes of Mr. Bungle as a 'punk' band that has worked with the great John Zorn. The latter statement is indeed a half-truth, and only tells a fraction of Mr. Bungle's story. John Zorn produced Mr. Bungle's first full-length study album, which was self-titled, but no other work took place with Zorn as a group. Although, it must be pointed out that Mr. Bungle's members have worked with him separately to their Mr. Bungle obligations; particularly Trevor Dunn, Mike Patton, Trey Spruance and Clinton "Bär" McKinnon.
And with regards referring to the group as a 'punk' band, he's talking bullshit. That is a clear indication that he doesn't know what he is talking about.
