Readers of this excellent book and anyone interested in Forster's history ( or indeed as we move towards the 50 year mark since Leo Abse's Sexual Offences Act 1967) anyone interested in the queer history of Britain may wish to know of the recently published account ( in 2014) of the prosecution of over twenty homosexuals in the small Welsh town of Abergavenny, in 1942. This is referred to by Francis King.
"The Abergavenny Witch Hunt" by William Cross deals with the unvarnished truth about the gay witch hunt in South Wales, in the war years, the background, preliminary proceedings, the trial and its aftermath with some surprising twists.
The book includes the full text of the letter to The Spectator tailored by Forster on behalf of his friend Joe Ackerley.
