The objective of the research will be to test the usefulness of a glass ionomer cement ot treat hypersensitive cervical anatomic deficiencies with a restorative material that required no tooth preparation for its application. Based on the findings of this study the following conclusions are made. 1. A glass ionomer cement used to restore sensitive cervical abrasion lesions provides a clinically significant reduction in sensitivity to tactile, air-stream, and cold and warm water stimuli. 2. Thermal stimuli in the form of an air-stream of cold water produces the greatest patient response. 3. Tactile stimuli in the form of toothbrushing elicted a less severe patient response than did the thermal stimuli. 4. A glass ionomer cement restoration is useful to treat hypersensitive cervical anatomic deficiencies.
