For over three years I have been striving to win scholarships, and share in this book what I have learned during my quest for funding. The amassed information I share here comes from advice from professors, graduate workshops, psychology club meetings, conferences, classes, psychology peers, and my own introspection and interpretation of the advice I've received. Scholarships have the power of enabling us to comfortably pursue an education, but many students do not realize that winning scholarships takes an entirely different skill than does earning good grades, conducting research, or networking. It takes practice, motivation, and an ability to predict what scholarship committees want to see. It is my hope that this book will save you time and effort as you search for scholarships and the strategies that win scholarships, and I hope it encourages you to be confident that funding does exist for psychology students. Good luck in all of your scholastic endeavors!
