Somewhat entertaining, though I'm sure that anyone unfamiliar with the practices of extremely high-end hotels will miss out, like I did. Bemelmans comes across as really quite unlikable, a clever dick who manages to get himself out of awkward and sometimes dangerous situations he got himself into through further scams and tricks. Still, it was pretty amusing if read as the roguish adventures of a lovable (or barely-likable) self-serving, unreliable narrator. The best was, in my opinion, the one where he threw the dog off the back of a mainliner.
