Racism is an ugly and life threatening beast. The courage to stand against is at the shoulders of little girl. This is great glimpse into monumental events that occurred in our nation’s history. Ruby is inspiring little girl with a whole lot of courage plays a major role in the fight against inequality. The book does great job in articulating to a young child the inequalities of that time in the world through the eyes of a child like themselves. It also being a true story breathes life into it and reveals that they too young as they may be can be their own pioneer for change.
