Looks like a good introduction to the subject, but really dry and there's no way I'll manage to plough through it without actually doing some kind of course on logic! Read full review
It is difficult to tackle even simple logic without a personal tutor to help and give you the OK. I spent two months of my summer vacation in California trying to "do" logic with this book as my only guide. I use the word "trying" advisedly. However somehow the trying paid off and those two months of thinking must have been good preparation because when it came to the time to start the logic unit, at university, in Northern Ireland I consistently scored 100% in my logic assignments. We had one other help for the practise of solving predicate logic equations. A hypertext software program running on Apple Macs from St Andrew's University that allowed instant feedback. This also taught me indirectly that I might eventually work full time in computing. It is exciting to see things anew with a logical mind. It was worth spending time with this book. This book takes a person back to the intellectual roots, the foundations of knowledge and rational thought. Maybe not the entire foundations but a good bit of it. I'm grateful to Mr Jim Brown MA who was my university tutor.
