About the author (1982)

William G. Ouchi is the Sanford and Betty Sigoloff professor of corporate renewal at the Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA. Previously on the faculty at Stanford and the University of Chicago, he is the author of three books, including Theory Z: How American Management Can Meet the Japanese Challenge. A longtime civic activist, he served as chief of staff to Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan from 1993-1995. He lives in Santa Monica, California.
