About the author (1996)

For the first edition of "Aroids", Deni undertook a solo round-the-world aroid hunting trip, venturing into the rainforests of Sumatra looking for the spectacular "Amorphophallus titanum". She has photographed botanic gardens in Europe, the United States, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, India, and Australia, and is also a regular researcher and photographer at both Kew and Edinburgh. Deni is married with 5 children, and is currently at work on developing a 6-acre garden devoted mainly to culinary, medicinal, and aromatic plants, which of course includes some aroids.

About the author

At the age of 23, David Green set up a niche financial business that competed against the major banks until it was sold when it reached a turnover of 100 million. He has been mentored by two realised Kriya Yoga masters from India over the last 15 years.

David, who retired when he was 42, says "I attribute whatever success, happiness and fulfilment I have gained to a mix of amazing grace, incredible good fortune and sheer hard work - guided all the way by the Invisible Hand. Opening up to spirituality did not mean that I had to turn my back on the material world. It really is possible to be successful and be inspired in the world with a spiritual attitude. My experience shows that busy people are perfect candidates for meditation. I practised for as little as 15 minutes every day to relieve stress while pursuing an active and high-powered career at the same time. After 18 years of meditation I am still a beginner!
