I have read all the laundry files books, and look forward to the next one. To be fair, this book would have gotten 5 stars from me if I hadn't read the Atrocity Archives first. It's a litle cutesty, and contrived at times but still easily worth the read. But whatever you do... don't miss the other two!!

This series is looking better. Protagonist Bob is a geek, working for the Laundry, a British secret organization that deals with occult threats, part time as a programmer/mage and part time as secret ... Read full review

This is the second book in Charles Stross's Laundry Files. Probably the best book in the series so far. A spoof on spy fiction. Charles Stross does a good job of keeping you guessing until the very ... Read full review

Maybe a little closer to 4.5 stars than 5, but I really, really enjoyed this one for the most part. It didn't suffer from the weird slowdowns of The Atrocity Archives, and had a much more fun plot ... Read full review

Throughout this book, I had an odd internal debate going on; am I too dumb for this book, or is Stross just writing something that's overly technical and complicated for the sake of being overly ... Read full review

I really wanted to like this book. If nothing else for the fact that it may be the only novel I have ever read where the author talks about computers and programming and actually writes about them ... Read full review

What a wild ride! Charles Stross takes Bob of the Laundry, which is a mix of occult, spies, and bureaucratic nightmare, and mixes it up with James Bond style spy craft. The entire book spoofs, riffs ... Read full review

I hoped it would be something more, but story is not so interesting as in first book. At least satire on corporate world with 007 references save it. Read full review
