I feel as though this book was hyped up a lot, and while I appreciate that it was told in Jack's child's voice, I feel as though once we reach "After" in the second half of the book, the story goes cold. Read full review

It was really interesting to think about what things must have been like from this little boy's perspective. I was also impressed with what good care the mother took of her little boy. Read full review

Emma Donoghue does a good job with the hard part of this novel: capturing the voice of a five-year old who has spent his whole life trapped in one room. However, she doesn't do so well with the voices ... Read full review

Not sure how I feel
Interesting book. It's a challenge to get into right out of the gate because of the way it is written from the child's point of view. There are some definite humorous moments, and
then some terribly sad moments. All in all, if you are looking for something to read, give it a shot. A solid 3/5
