The 'Shtetl Finder' USED to be an essential reference for determining the names and locations of Eastern European towns with Jewish communities and for Holocaust research. But then in 1991 the first edition of Mokotoff and Sack's 'Where Once We Walked: A Guide to the Jewish Communities Destroyed in the Holocaust' came out...I personally haven't bothered using 'Shtetl Finder' since.
