I found a copy of this book at the Berkeley Flea Market in the 1990's. One page was missing, and that almost drove me nuts. Of the other pages, I hugely enjoyed watching this talented and ambitious young woman set up her life, manage her considerable fan club, agonize over the competition, and eventually destroy herself by going outdoors for her plein air painting sessions. I loved that she was intent on her own standards of excellence. She was multi-lingual and extremely clever. At the end, with only days to live, she was aware of her own fragile beauty and wore white to highly that effect. What a waste!
