Transport Processes in Engineering is a new multidisciplinary series of books intended to provide, in an integrated fashion, authoritative and timely coverage of selected topics in fluid mechanics, heat and mass transfer. The series will publish edited works on coherent themes of current and potential application as well as monographs and advanced reference works for researchers, advanced students, practicing engineers and applied scientists. This first volume covers transport processes in several major areas of application of fluidized-bed contactors. It does not attempt to achieve an exhaustive treatment of its subject, rather it includes areas which constitute important non-conventional applications of fluidized-bed systems, offering something new even to those already well-versed in fluidization technology. The book will be of interest to engineers and technologists in the chemical, agricultural, food, mechanical, metallurgical, mineral processing and energy engineering areas with an interest in current or potential applications involving conventional and/or modified fluidized beds.
