50 years ago I was a freshman at St. John's College where we relied on Smyth's Greek Grammar. Our tutor in that class was Mr. Richard Schofield, a former Rhodes Scholar. Our class intro text was by Chase & Phillips , but we were soon into Homer & Plato, Smyth was & is the master reference. His Greek language chart I redid with more modern English examples to share with others. EVERY EDUCATED PERSON SHOULD KNOW THE GREEK ALPHABET. Years ago there was a news photo of tunnel just found in Jerusalem. Over its entrance someone about 3,000 years ago had scrawled Delta upsilon delta. or pyramid u pyramid, or, without vowels = David - that was King to be David's tunnel into Jerusalem, just as told in Samuel.
