This book had its funny parts, but overall I thought it was a sweet book about a boy and his teacher learning to respect and to like each other. There were also heavy elements of the social change and war going on in America in the 1960s. Read full review

This book was mildly funny and very touching. I laughed a few times and cried a few times too.

I would have to say that this is not one of my most cherised books...I didnt really get the vibe of what the author was trying to tell the readers...

The "Wednesday Wars" by Gary D. Schmidt is an interesting book. While he adds in some humor of Mrs. Baker's evil but hilarious plots, Gary can also make us concerned about the Vietnam War since this book was during the time of 1967 to 1968. What I like about the book is that Mrs. Baker and Holling have an interesting relationship. Sometimes Mrs.Baker hates (or that's what Holling thinks) while they also get along. The story is funny and has a touching end and I would recommend this book to people who are studying the Vietnam War and who like commedy.
