Editorial Review - Kirkus - Jane Doe

I picked this up after hearing an author talk because Gary Schmidt was a gifted, interesting storyteller in real life. You know what? He is here, too. Funny, poignant, never quite as predictable as this coming-of-age books can be. Strongly recommend. Read full review

I would have to say that this is not one of my most cherised books...I didnt really get the vibe of what the author was trying to tell the readers...

The "Wednesday Wars" by Gary D. Schmidt is an interesting book. While he adds in some humor of Mrs. Baker's evil but hilarious plots, Gary can also make us concerned about the Vietnam War since this book was during the time of 1967 to 1968. What I like about the book is that Mrs. Baker and Holling have an interesting relationship. Sometimes Mrs.Baker hates (or that's what Holling thinks) while they also get along. The story is funny and has a touching end and I would recommend this book to people who are studying the Vietnam War and who like commedy.
