Highly detailed and a bit of a slog, but very interesting to read of Malcolm's journey and untimely death. I really felt like I could begin to understand the anger that fueled him. I also felt like I ... Read full review

I can't give this book enough praise, it was truly an eye opening, enlightening, and powerful read. I'm ashamed to admit that I didn't know much about Malcolm X except that he took the opposite stance ... Read full review

AMAZING!!! I have read a lot of books in my day and this is simply an excellent depiction of his life and times! A man that, in the end, was never really fully realized in regard to his exceptional potential. In addition, Alex Haley's epilogue is equally as important as the main character's life story! I suggest it is read cover to cover!!!

The real prophet is never loved in hometown.
This man was the embodiment of black pride, love, power.
Arguably, the most important black book in us history

I won't be fancy about this review. I had to read it for a college history class, and I'll be honest, I wasn't looking forward to it. At the time I, being a white kid from a middle class family in northern Virginia and Maryland, didn't think that I'd enjoy reading something by (and about) someone who wouldn't much care for me if he saw me.
My viewpoint changed very quickly in reading this book. I found it interesting, exciting, inspiring and sad and it completely changed my view of the man. An excellent book all around and I'll be honest it's now my favorite book I've ever read...
