A Founding Family: The Pinckneys of South CarolinaThomas Pinckney (d.1705) immigrated from England to the island of Jamaica in 1688, and immigrated to South Carolina in 1692. He married twice. Descendants listed lived chiefly in South Carolina. The brothers, Charles Cotesworth Pinckney (1746-1825) and Thomas Pinckney (1750-1828), were particularly effective during the Revolutionary War and during the creation and ratification of the Constitution. |
