The Forsyte Saga

The three novels which make up The Forsyte Saga chronicle the ebbing social power of the commercial upper-middle class Forsyte family between 1886 and 1920. Galsworthy's masterly narrative examines not only their fortunes but also the wider developments within society, particularly the changing position of women. This is the only critical edition of the work available, with Notes that explain contemporary artistic and literary allusions and define the slang of the time.

i really enjoyed reading the Forsyte Saga . Soames was one of the most evil and perverse characters I have ever encountered. the other Forsytes were at least decent. I appreciated the sincerity of Jolyon and the joy young Jolyon brought his parents.

Review: The Forsyte Saga (The Forsyte Chronicles #1-3)

User Review  - Jessica - Goodreads

The story of several generations of a family. Some of them change with the times, but Soames Forsyte refuses. It is fascinating to watch how his world view remains unphased even as the woman he obsesses over remains beautiful and out of his grasp. Read full review
