About the author (2003)

Gwen Calvo grew up in Cartagena, Colombia, where she experienced the negative impact of the cocaine trade on Colombian families firsthand. She immigrated to the United States where she attended college and graduate school. She currently lives in Rhode Island with her dog, Smith.
