I got this for my husband who is a Univ of GA horticulture grad and had Dr Dirr as one of his professors. He already had his original Manual of Landscape and Woody Plants but that book was just drawings of the plant. This book has LOTS of photos which is great. Highly recommend! Read full review

Michael A. Dirr is widely acknowledged as the leading expert on trees and shrubs for landscapes and gardens. During his nearly three decades as a professor of horticulture at the University of Georgia, he received the highest honors from the American Horticulture Society, the Garden Club of America, and the American Society for Horticultural Science, among others.
