Man's Best Friend
Man Ray, artist William Wegman's stunning weimaraner, was called "the Charlie Chaplin of dog photography" by The New York Times and "the ideal post-modern photographer's model" by New York magazine. In Wegman's beautiful, vibrantly colored Polaroid photographs, Man Ray dresses as Louis XIV, imitates a bat, poses as Picasso's Old Guitarist, and is variously covered with baby powder, flowers, zebra-print fabric, and tinsel. These photographs and Wegman's later work have made Man Ray, Fay Ray, and their family among the best-known models in contemporary art.

This amusing volume is photographer Wegmen's tribute to Man Ray, not the fellow shutterbug but his dog and partner whom he dressed up as everything from an elephant to an Indian chief. There are also some fine portraits of the dog just as a dog. Great fun, and you can't beat the price. Read full review
