The numerous Ecclesiastical and Town Histories, Genealogies, and other works of this class with which the press is teeming, show a laudable desire on the part of many to rescue from Oblivion the memorials Of the original. Settlers Of our country and their descendants, and are taking their appropriate place in literature. However imperfeét they may be, they will at least be highly appreciated by future generations. The organization of numerous Genealogical SO cieties, and their successful Operation, manifests the same pre.
