There are many inaccuracies in this book, but it is mostly not due to faulty research - many times you simply cannot get the real poop out of pop stars. Much went on behind the scenes that simply is not talked about, but has been revealed in other, more recent books. And memories are also faulty - especially if those memories are clouded by use of certain substances. But chart information given is absolutely on the mark (unless a victim of being misprinted, and there are a few of those). I can't comment on the Bobbie Gentry page, but there is erroneous info on some Beatle pages, the Supremes (in fact, a lot more of the pages on all Motown artists contain erroneous info, merely because the label insisted on "glossing over" any negative publicity).
But it's still a fascinating read, and a glimpse of the heyday of AM Pop.

The chapter about Bobbie Gentry is full of many inaccuracies. I suggest further reading on the subject.

This has a lot of information on Elvis Presley. "Heartbreak Hotel" was #1 the week of April 21, 1956 and "I Want You, I Need You, I Love You" was #1 the week of July 28, 1956. Cool!!

Club Harlem was located in Atlantic City, NJ, not Philadelphia, PA.

veryi nformative and provides a basic history of each musician, but not all the facts are correct. For example it states Ringo Starr wrote "It Don't Come Easy" and George Harrison produced it, but in reality George Harrison wrote it and recorded it before Ringo, then offered it to Ringo to sing years later

I'm skeptical of the previous review. The reviewer has not provided a single example of the mistakes he refers to. I own probably 50 pop music reference books, and haven't found a single error in any edition of this book. Bronson's research and background are generally meticulous. For more than casual but less than expert music fans, this is a treasure trove of facts on the biggest songs in history.
