I had trouble getting into this book. I breifly read it and skimmed trhough the rest.It was not what I was expecting. A bit boring, but shared several stastics and facts. It was very informative but not enjoyable.It does show how dreadful mental illness is and how bad those patients are treated. Read full review

About the author (1997)

about the author E. FULLER TORREY, M.D., is a research psychiatrist at the Neuroscience Center of the National Institute of Mental Health. He is also the author of twelve books, including the bestselling Surviving Schizophrenia, which has been described as the "bible" of the mentally ill and their families.
