I must confess that I didn't learn much new by reading Diet For A New America, but seeing in print what I already new we were doing to farm animals radicalized me. I obsessed with the thought that if a dime could be saved in the slaughter of an animal at the expense of added pain to the animal, economics would prevail. That was ten years ago. I have been a vegan ever since -- cold turkey (no pun intended).

This open mindedly compassionate volume rings a reminder bell not just about the forgotten captive animals for food, but what we swallow daily is a choice not mindless compulsion. Unless we want it to be. And how negative vibration, chemicals and 'dead food' reaps that end result. I know...and I've been told that if I knew, saw what happened to chickens, pigs, cows I would never go near a piece of meat for consumption ever again. Not sure if Robbins elucidates Kosher or Halal but neither are a comforting thought.
