The A.P. Rose history of Nobles County is invaluable to anyone seeking historic information regarding Nobles County, MN. Rose earns high marks for accuracy.
It should be remembered, however, that the
Rose history was produced as a profit-making venture. Residents who agreed to pay a subscription fee received a copy of the history with their brief biography included in it. (Some of the pioneers - including Ransom Humiston - were, of course, included for no fee.) There are more than 500 biographies but residents who did not subscribe, some of them accomplished or prominent residents of the county, are not included in the history.
