This contribution to understanding the ancestry of the Butlers who settled in Maryland in its colonial beginnings is most welcome. Mr. Stallard has thoroughly researched and documented this line. Above and beyond a thorough work benefiting antiquarians and genealogists, however, his excellent writing style gives this work a readability and interest not often seen, and the photographs of many of the locations in the book add frosting to the cake. It has been a delight to encounter this work.
