About the author (2001)

Linda Hayward was an elementary school teacher before entering publishing thirty years ago. She was director of educational publishing at Golden Books, where she managed the workbook line and started the Road to Reading series. At Random House, she managed the Step into Reading series and started the First Stepping Stones series. She has written over 100 books for children under 10, 49 of which are Readers. She also conceived and wrote the Dr. Seuss Beginner Fun Books. Ms. Hayward lives in Naples, Florida.
