About the author (1987)

K R Karanth is presently Director, Central Ground Water Board, Bangalore. A postgraduate in geology from Madras University, he has over 30 years' experience in various aspects in investigations related to ground water.He has been a member of several scientific bodies, Command Area Development Authority Boards of Pochampad and Nagarjuna Sagar Projects, Andhra Pradesh, and is a founder-member of the Indian Association of Geohydrologists. He has served as Director in Boards of Irrigation Development Corporation and Agro-Industries Corporation, and as Director, Ground Water Department, Government of Andhra Pradesh, on deputation form the Central Ground Water Board.Mr. Karanth has published several scientific papers and has been a guide to many doctoral researchers in hydrogeology.
