Great way to find and explore several sites in Iowa. Especially several within drive time from Minneapolis. Who would have thought that flat old Iowa had so much underneath it? Great tool for finding and helping with exploring. Read full review

Dear Mr. Brick: I was on the first major trip into coldwater cave where we took off our diving tanks and proceeded on foot for 3 and 1/4 miles. A trip that lasted 24 plus hours. You need to do your research. There is a 99 year lease on the property above coldwater that was produced in 1970 that still is in effect. tom egert

Well written, easy to read book on everything underground in the State of Iowa. Although caves and mines occupy a large portion of the book, it also covers other historic and interesting underground locations such as hand dug beer caves, a grotto, a tunnel, a subterranean home, and related museums. A map in the front corresponds with articles, so it is easy to quickly locate where a particular feature, or place, is located. A very enjoyable book for anyone with an interest in geology, geography, history, or travel in the state.
