I've tried a couple other of Dawkins books on evolution and put them all down without finishing them. This one a finished and enjoyed, most of it. He was much more engaging to the reader in this book and seemed to stay on topic much better, he has a tendency to get distracted. I learned a lot and even found myself eager to share some of the great things I learned with others.
Dawkins writes like he is sitting in a room having a conversation with you, which for the most part is a good thing, but he also has a tendancy to drift off subject and to insert jokes that probably won't be understood by all his readers. I'm sure there are a few I didn't get, as there was a lot of moments he made comments I admittedly didn't know what he was talking about.

This one really dragged on and plodded along. Strangely organized, in my opinion, which didn't help its readability. Definitely not for those who are already familiar with the concepts and ideas - I ... Read full review

Dawkins could have written this book with the same content and 2/3 of the words IMO. He tends to ramble on and get distracted. He also does gratuitous bashing of people who disagree with him but ... Read full review

Review: The Greatest Show on Earth: The Evidence for Evolution

User Review  - Jamie Franklin - Goodreads

It's hard to put into words how unlikable and transparently arrogant a man is Richard Dawkins. So arrogant and pompous is he that he writes a book of almost 500 pages on the topic of 'The Evidence for ... Read full review

Review: The Greatest Show on Earth: The Evidence for Evolution

User Review  - Marius Masalar - Goodreads

This is a challenging book to assess. My first question, upon finishing it, is "who is this for?" The science is too involved for a scientifically illiterate fundamentalist creationist audience, the ... Read full review

Review: The Greatest Show on Earth: The Evidence for Evolution

User Review  - Darren Cheah - Goodreads

Richard Dawkins has always been regarded as the most vocal mainstream proponent of evolution, and he lives up to his reputation here. He most certainly won't gain any converts from the creationist and ... Read full review

After reading this book, I quickly realized that it was targeted for a particular audience--the choir complete with holy robes and clapping hands shouting, "...Preach it brother Dawkins, preach it my ... Read full review

Review: The Greatest Show on Earth: The Evidence for Evolution

User Review  - Buddy - Goodreads

This book seems designed to preach to the choir. While it has some fascinating information in it, I didn't feel it was well enough written for people without a strong science background. Read full review
