About the author (1999)

Stephen Kramer is the author of many science books for young readers, including How to Think Like a Scientist, Lightning, and Eye of the Storm. He teaches at an elementary school near Vancouver, Washington, where he lives with his wife and two sons.

Warren Faidley, the "Cyclone Cowboy," has experienced more extreme weather events than anyone, including baseball-sized hail, flash floods, lightning strikes, an F5 tornado, and the interior of a category 5 hurricane. Warren makes his living year round as a professional storm-chaser. He works with the Discovery and Weather channels, and was a primary consultant on the film Twister. He lives in Arizona.
