About the author (1985)

Tom and Michele Grimm are photographers and freelance journalists. Tom has been an instructor of photography at University of California, Irvine and both have led photography tours and workshops. Their photographs have been published in magazines, newspapers, books and on the Internet. For 16 years, the husband-and-wife team wrote the "Trip of the Week" column for the Los Angeles Times, anthologized in Away For The Weekend, Southern California: Great Getaways Less Than 250 Miles From Los Angeles (3rd rev. and updated ed., 1993). They are the authors and illustrators of several other books, including best-sellers The Basic Book of Photography (4th ed., 1997) and The Basic Darkroom Book (rev. ed., 1986), and were contributors in the 1970's to children's books by author June Behrens with titles such as What Is A Seal? (1975), about homonyms.
