For those interested in International Unitarian Universalism, this is a wondrous book.
While some historians would question the inclusion of ARIUS or FLORENCE NIGHTENGALE as UnitarianS, Don McEvoy is right on in doing the research and writing to Uni Unis around the world to get his data. He includes well known historical figures like Michael Servetus (2011 will be the 500th Anniversary of the birth of Servetus), Francis David, and Mary Wollstonecraft.
But the unique value of this collection is as a door to Unitarian and Universalist Figures in over 20 nations around the world: such as Catherine Helen Spence in Australia (her face is on the Australian 5 dollar bill), Ram Mohan Roy in India, Toribio Quimada founder of the Philippine Unitarian Universalists.
Each figure is presented speaking in his or her voice, making the selections very usable as short dramatic selections as part of a service. I have given many of these to members to read in our Horsham Unitarian Church. I usually cut two or three paragraphs to tighten
up the presentation. Blessing and hope, Richard
