Yes, I learned about the book during my study of tea ceremony but that was not at the heart of what I took from the book. It allowed me to learn to 'find my zen' in a world of conflicting ideas, overwhelming stimulus, and 'gathering' philosophy in America. In essence, it helped me see one thing, at one moment and appreciate that simplicity.
