Legacy of Silence: Encounters with Children of the Third ReichPresents interviews with 13 children of Holocaust perpetrators, conducted in Germany between 1985-87. Bar-On, an Israeli psychologist, contacted 58 children of perpetrators; nine refused to meet with him. The interviews were conducted in German, and have been translated and edited. The fathers of the interviewees were either members of the government or served in the concentration camp administrations, the euthanasia program, the Einsatzgruppen, the SS, the Gestapo, and the transportation system. The interviews include discussion of attitudes toward Jews and toward the Holocaust. |
