About the author (2004)

Stephen R. Swinburne is a writer, photographer, and naturalist. He is the author of numerous nature books for children. He and his wife, Heather, and their two children live in South Londonderry, Vermont.

Crista Forest was born and raised in southern California, where she still lives today. She has illustrated a few books, including Shockers of the Sea by Carolyn Arnold and Northern Refuge by Audrey Fraggalosch.
