The Annals and Antiquities of Rajasthan by Col. James Tod is an extensive work by the British Officer accomplished in the early 19th century. This he started writing at Boheda Haveli in Udaipur. He collected information from Jagas (traditional genelogy keeper for Royal houses in India), folklore and folksongs. The vol I is basically the history of the supreme house of Rajputana - House of Mewar, the foremost of the 36 royal clans of Indian Aristocracy. Amongst other information there is an extensive sketch of Rajasthan, its land, its people, its culture, clothing etc. A must read for any history buff.
