Illustrated by Brett HelquistWhen a book of unexplainable occurrences brings Petra Andalee and Calder Pillay together, strange things start to happen: Seemingly unrelated events connect, an eccentric old woman seeks their company, and an invaluable Vermeer painting disappears. Blue Balliett's bewitching first novel is a puzzle, wrapped in a mystery, disguised as an adventure, and delivered as a work of art.

Fun and artistic, a masterpiece=)User Review - Kids Bookseller - Borders
FANTASTIC! I was extremely impressed with this book and immediately went looking for the second one in the series. It's a great mystery about a stolen piece of art, but its also a great story about each character and what art means to them. Read full review
From a teacher standpoint...this book is AWESOME! There's a mystery to solve (maybe more than one??), and sooooo many connections! Art, math/geometry, writing. Not to mention the storyline is good, too.
