I read this book over 23 years ago. I lost it after reading it and often thought about it throughout the years. The other day I found it at a used bookstore and have to say it was a delight to find and read it again. This book is life changing! If one can objectively see the problem and from the highest good solve it with principles of like cures like, then there is a chance of overcoming ones troubles instead of choosing to be "unselfish". "Unselfish" is often not for the betterment of all involved, but the art of constructive selfishness, can lead to everyone being better off if strategies are applied wisely. This is not a book about justifying selfishness for ego gain and at the expense of others. It is a book about practical self-preservation done in a way that checks the ego at the door, and actions employed lead to a higher quality of life for all involved. See the problem objectively, and apply a constructive solution to loved ones, family and friends.
Some of the stories may surprise you, but it is important to look at the results and ask what other tried and true way would have lead to the constructive results if you are surprised by them.
