I never read these books as a child, but I saw a firend had one and they looked great for procrastination, so I gave it a try. I think it's really cute! Mildred is very sweet. The writing isn't very advanced as this is more of a children's/YA book, but it's still so much fun! Read full review

About the author (1988)

Jill Murphy's first story about the Large Family, FIVE MINUTES' PEACE, received the PARENTS Best Book for Babies Award and was declared "painfully funny" by THE NEW YORK TIMES BOOK REVIEW. Three more Large Family titles followed, including A PIECE OF CAKE and A QUIET NIGHT IN. Families around the world seem to recognize more than a bit of themselves in these ebullient and down-to-earth elephants. SCHOOL LIBRARY JOURNAL calls their world "instantly recognizable as true to life," and it's easy to see why!
