The Razor and the MirrorTo read the voice of the child expressed in clear, descriptive, authentic language tears at the heart, even the hardened of heart would be moved to tears. In my experience as a counselor on child and adolescent units of two hospitals in two different states, as well as a kindergarten teacher in two different state systems, I have worked with children who have suffered chronic physical and sexual abuse usually at the hands of family members. One does not become immune after working with the children, but developes an overwhelming sense of helplessness. Where and how do we prevent the abuse?
