About the author (1980)

Cyra McFadden has been a newspaper columnist, a freelance writer for several national publications, and a book author. Her weekly column appeared in the San Francisco Examiner from 1985 to 1991. Her freelance articles have appeared in such publications as The New York Times, Newsweek, and The Nation. Her books include "The Serial," a satire on life in Marin County, California, which was adapted to film. McFadden's other works include "Rain or Shine," a family memoir.
