Jeff Schultz and Jon Van Zyle are two artists and long-time friends that live and work in Alaska. Jeff, a photographer, and Jon, an artist, are both longtime Alaskans, well-known for their respective art forms and each with a deep love for the natural world, adventure, and the wilds of the Last Frontier.For over forty years, both men have been drawn to the same subjects. Now they have joined forces to share their favorite visions of our Great Land. Double Vision Alaska, captures the essence of their home through camera and paintbrush, and sometimes a combination of both. They invite you to wander through their four seasons of breathtaking images that capture the imagination of all who visit or reside here in the last frontier.The artists' wives, Joan Schultz and Jona Van Zyle wrote the mosaic of text adding insight into the creativity and dedication of their husbands' work pursuits.

About the author (2020)

Internationally known Alaskan artist, Jon Van Zyle has spent over four decades capturing the essence of Alaska's landscapes, wildlife, people and sports. His original paintings and reproductions are represented in many galleries in the United States and Europe.Having twice completed the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race, Jon has been the race's official artist since 1979 and was inducted into the Iditarod Hall of Fame. Joan relocated to Alaska with her mother from Southern California to Anchorage in 1977 at the age of 16. She is a wife and mother. Born in Winterthur, Switzerland in 1958, Martin became fascinated with sled dogs while still a teen. He came to Alaska in 1979 to enhance his knowledge of care and training of sled dogs. He began working and training with long-time Alaskan mushers Earl and Natalie Norris and ran his first Iditarod in 1980. Martin and wife Kathy Chapoton, a retired teacher, reside in Big Lake, Alaska, where the family owns and manages Happy Trails Kennel. Their sons, Nikolai and Rohn, both named after Iditarod checkpoints, have been involved with dogs at various times in their lives. Nikolai currently resides in Seattle. Rohn completed three Iditarods, his first Iditarod in 2008, as a senior in high school.Martin was inducted into the Alaska Sports Hall of Fame this past April (2017).
